How did SASS start?  Led by the inspirations of award-winning songwriter/producer Don McLeod, teacher/songwriter Artemis Chartier, and songwriter/producer Dale Russell (lead guitarist of The Guess Who), Dale and Artemis started SASS in Oshawa, Ontario in 2003 with a single group of seventy students. Our Ontario Chapter quickly grew to twenty clubs in its first year, then doubled to forty clubs by the end of its second year. Ontario now delivers its program into more than sixty schools, bringing student participation to well over 1,500/year.

In 2005, Don McLeod and David Blair brought the SASS program to BC. By 2007, SASS has now grown to twelve schools in the BC Lower Mainland, with over 300 students/year.

how . . . can you get involved in S.A.S.S.?
