SASS, the School Alliance of Student Songwriters, is a network of songwriting clubs offered to youth in grades 6-12 and in 2008 has expanded to Universities and Colleges.

SASS introduces students to the art of songwriting, boosts literacy, inspires lasting friendships, fosters musical creativity, improves attendance in schools, as well as builds character and leadership.

SASS respects artistic expression through whatever genre the students wish and are encouraged by fellow artists and professionals.

The core of the SASS program consists of a curriculum of twenty workshops over the course of a school year. The workshops are delivered by SASS mentors directly into the schools. Our mentors are professional songwriters, managers, engineers and producers who provide guidance and encouragement in the art of songwriting. Students gain the opportunity to connect with other artists, including networking with professionals and collaborating with their peers (often from other schools). The program also provides free songwriting contests, inter-school recitals, field trips, special guest appearances by industry professionals, and in some cases, recording sessions.
