SASS has been primarily funded by local school boards and sponsors, as it serves all types of students, from gifted to at-risk youth.  The heart of each SASS club is its participants.  To date, over 200 educators have volunteered their time.

Many others have supported the SASS program, including the Music Industry Association of Canada (MIAC), Long & McQuade, local Optimist and Rotary Clubs, the Canadian Music Publishers Association (CMPA), The Metalworks Institute, The Songwriters Association of Canada (SAC), Music BC, Socan, Hipposonic, Rock Beach and Armoury Studios, Investors Group, and donors such as Byron Nelson.

Great songwriters and celebrities such as Don McLeod, David Anthony, David Blair, Jim Vallance, John Kay (Steppenwolf), Amy Sky, Anne Murray, Marc Jordan, Lance Hoppen, Chris Patterson (The Arrogant Worms), Tom McDonald, Dave Benedict, Kevin "Chief" Zaruk, Kyprios, Rob Darch,Vincent Degiorgio, Bob D'eith, Dane Deviller, Paul Silveira, Sean Hosein, Sean Maestri, Sherry St. Germain, Scotty McCargar, Terry O'Brien, Aileen De La Cruzand Dale Russell have led hundreds of SASS songwriting clinics and contests.
