Our mandate is making the music industry more accessible to young artist by bringing it into the classroom. This is building a grassroots community of young artists and providing them with the knowledge, the skills, and the networking opportunities they'll need for success in the industry.

In many cases our program is delivered within the schools’ curriculum, while in others it is delivered as an extra-curricular activity. Our ‘Once in SASS – Always in SASS’ philosophy is building a vibrant foundational community of students, alumni, and professional songwriting artists who will shape the future of our music industry. The improvision of songwriting adds satisfaction to music courses and calls out the creative power within young people providing them with a sense of accomplishment.

Songwriting clubs, like many other extra-curriculars, often provide an inspiring channel between students and club leaders. Teachers who offer to run any club demonstrate their dedication to their students.  Research has shown that students are less likely to drop out of high school if peers are supportive and caring parents/adults believe in them.

Why . . . did we start SASS?
